Good Habits to Start This 2022

Hey, curlies! Can you believe it’s already 2022? 😱 Crazy how time flies so fast, isn’t?

Since it’s the new year, we know you’re all listing down your bucket lists and resolutions.

And of course, it all begins with the smallest steps. All you need is consistency and LOTS of commitment.

In this article, we provide a list of good habits you can easily try to jumpstart a year of an exciting journey!

Journaling

Who says journaling is dead? Whether you do it with a pen and a notebook, or you just jot down in your phone’s note app, journaling has a lot of benefits– mainly for your mental and emotional health.

The good thing about journaling is that you’re able to really process your thoughts and reflect on yourself to become more self-aware. This would be very beneficial also if you’d like to track your other goals in life.

It’s like you’re talking (or in this case, writing) to yourself.

Another cool thing about journaling is it’s completely yours, no rules or anything!  Wanna make it a diary? Go! Wanna doodle? Go? Wanna write songs or poetry? No problem!

In journaling, the sky’s the limit for your creativity.

Skincare

Skincare is something the future you will thank you for.

One search on Youtube and you’ll already see a lot of skincare routine guide available out there– from a 5-minute quick wash to a Korean 10-step regimen. The key is to know yourself. Do you know what your skin type is? Take this quiz to find your skin type is and the products that work best for you.

Of course, the must-haves are facial cleansers, moisturizers, and toners. Of course, don’t forget your sunscreen!

Curlcare

Like skincare, curl care is a process of not just beautifying yourself but also showing care to your body.

If you’re new to curl care and curl routines, then you’re definitely in for a fun ride!

The common and probably the most popular curl routine out there is Lorraine Massey’s Curly Girl Method. Even though the word “girl” is in the name, even curly guys can try this method!

The Curly Girl Method essentially guides you through steps of curl care; cleansing, moisturizing, treatment, and styling.

It may sound like a very complicated thing at first but we provided a beginner’s guide for you! Once you get the hang of it, you can explore more methods such as modified CGM or other curl routines like Laura routine or Smaster’s method

TIPS: Starting a habit is a bit hard at first. You may forget it or just simply feel too lazy. To help you make these things a habit, you can set a designated time (example: use morning hours for journaling) and set an alarm to remind yourself.

It is also recommended to be very disciplined at least for the first 30 days so that after, it just comes naturally to you.

If you’re feeling a little more committed, you can ask someone to be your “accountability buddy,” someone who could remind you to be consistent.

May all of us have a very wonderful year!
