START HERE: How to Use Curls Products

Hey curlies!

If you’ve just made your first purchase of our products, we just want to tell you first that we are proud of you for starting your curl journey, and don’t worry because we’ll be here every step of the way! 💚

If you’re a little unsure where to start, this guide will show you how to use our CGM-approved products!

Our Curls Shampoo is a sulfate, paraben, protein and silicone-free low foam wash that gently cleans your curls and scalp. Suitable for all curl types, the product is infused with avocado which is rich in Vitamin E, C, and A and tea tree oil that helps with hair issues and damage.

How to use:

To use, wet hair completely then massage the shampoo into the scalp to remove dirt and build-up. You may also use a scalp brush in applying the product better.

Lather and then rinse thoroughly. For best results, use it with our Curl Conditioner

Reminder: Unless needed, avoid washing your hair with shampoo every day because it may dry out your curls, but of course the frequency depends on your curl type.

Our Curls Conditioner doesn’t have sulfate, paraben, protein and silicones; very curl-friendly!  Like our shampoo, our conditioner is infused with avocado that is rich in Vitamin E, C, and A, and tea tree oil that helps with various hair issues.

Aside from being moisturizing, the product also helps thoroughly cleanse hair strands without overwhelming them.

How to use:

After washing your hair, apply a generous amount of the products to ends and work towards the root. We recommend doing S2C (Squish to Condish: where you squish in your curls as you apply conditioner so it helps with defining the curls and preventing frizz.)

Rinse the conditioner thoroughly. Some opt to let some of the product stay in even after wash but ultimately, the choice is yours!

Did you know? You can also use the conditioner for Co-Washing since it has cleansing properties too. Co-washing is an alternative to shampooing to keep your scalp clean without drying it.

Deep Conditioner

Curls Deep Conditioner moisturizing hydrating

Free from sulfates, parabens, and silicones, our Deep Conditioner is made with natural ingredients like Avocado and Tea Tree. Avocados are rich in vitamin E,C and A. Tea tree oil, on the other hand, can help with different issues like dandruff and damage.

The difference between conditioner and deep conditioner?

Conditioner is a moisturizing product that keeps curls free from frizz and dryness while Deep Conditioner is an EXTRA moisturizing product that helps treat damage and keep curls healthy. That is why Deep Conditioner is less frequently used than a conditioner but is needed from time to time too.

How to use:

  • Apply to clean hair
  • Clean hair absorbs deep conditioner better so make sure to apply it to curls after using a sulfate-free shampoo or co-wash.

  • Leave from 30 mins to 1 hr
  • Let the deep conditioner sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour before rinsing off. Focus on applying to your ends.

  • Use it 3-5 times a month
  • If you are wavy, you may need less deep conditioning as it may cause you to over-moisturize and weigh down your hair. On the other hand, if you have tighter curls or coils, you need to deep condition at least once a week.

    Leave-In Conditioner

The Leave-In Conditioner is made with ingredients like Avocado, Tea Tree, Coconut and Shea Butter. It is specially formulated to help reduce frizz, give more moisture, and protect your curls from damage.

Unlike Conditioner and Deep Conditioner, the Leave-In is not meant to be rinsed off because it acts as a styler.

    How to use:

After your wash routine with shampoo and/or conditioner, take an ample amount of leave-in and apply to your curls while it is wet or damp. Distribute evenly with your palms or fingers. For better results, detangle your curls and squish the product in as you apply.

Most of our curl friends also apply a styling gel or a mousse right after they use the leave-in. This is so the curls stay defined for a longer time. You may use any of those products as long as they are curl-approved!
